My little M. Paykullii has been busily producing oothecae since becoming adult (2 so far, probably another any day). Didn't have a male so she was not mated. I knew they were parthenogenic so I had the ooths parked in a little tiny portion cup to set up for hatching later.

It's only been a month and yesterday my hubby noticed a dozen little Mio monkeys crawling around the cup! Yikes.... I thought I had at least a few more weeks. Good think I hadn't just left them out on the counter or something!

Man are they tiny. They took down mels that look huge compared to them, though. LOVE this species.

lol i love them too

i miss mine :(

they take verying times to hatch

when i had one it laid several ooths and the 3rd ooth took 8 weeks to hatch while the 4th ooth took 3 weeks at IDENTICAL conditions

Seconded. Lost my C. picti male before I got them bred and my poor girl just keeps laying...

Do they always reproduce without a male though? Because I know Iris oratoria is parthenogenic but it's not always the case.

Cool! The new generation will exclusively be female only. Like the mom they are also capable of reproducing asexually.
neat..

P.S. yen I saw your pictures in praying mantids keeping aliens...they are awesome!!
