Here's a funny story. So, I always let my Iris oratoria females out to roam on my curtains when I get home from school. Well, All five of them are pregnant. One night, a couple of days ago, I fell asleep before putting the mantids back. Luckily, I only had three of the five females out. So I wake up, and immediately find two of the three hanging around the curtains. The other one, however, disappeared. So I left for school, thinking I'll catch her when I get home.

So I get home, and while I'm surfing the internet, I pause and think "I should really find that mantis, she may be pregnant and could lay an ooth somewhere." No sooner than does that thought cross my mind, then I look over at my bed, and see the escapee climbing on my cover. I immediately scoop her up and place her in a container. But not paying attention to her slight decrease in sign. So just now, while I'm routinely checking all of the females, I look up to my bed, and see an ooth fastened securely to the end of my sheets right where I found the escapee. It was under a fold, so I can see how I missed it the first time. But wow, I sure am glad I found it BEFORE I washed my sheets. These girls really don't care where they lay their ooths.

Well, just thought I'd share that story with you all. Another ooth added to the collection.

Oh! she probably cared where she put it, but figured since her home was gone, she would leave it on your doorstep for adoption as she cannot care for it on the great bed of life :tt2:

awww ! lol. Sometimes I fall asleep with my bearded dragon. when I wake up he's snoozing on my chest :p

He's to lazy to run away I suppose. But if I fell asleep while holding my miomantis I'd be screwed. No way you could find him. tiny guys so cute and fun to interact with though!

I used to do the same with my beardie. I thought it was because of body temperature or something. I would always be afraid that I'd roll over though.

Hahahaha, she'd be giving it up for adoption anyway. I've got so many ooths being produced I've lost track as to who's due to produce an ooth. They're all fat.
