hey guys! Very long time no see. Missed this place hehe-

Still got my ghosts, although 2 males died in adulthood =( -

But after countless tries, I finally got a couple to mate! (getting frustrated I just put him ontop of her, and it worked out)

They stayed connected for around 5 hours.

Now, 3 days later she has laid an ooth! But it's quite smaller then the ones she's laid before.

I noticed this happened with my shields as well, and the ooth never hatched.

Does size have anything to do with the fertility of the ooth?

Hi

In general: NO! Ok, sometimes within a few species. But then it's even the other way around: Within the species Gongylus gongylodes or Deroplatys lobata, for example, infertile ooth are much bigger than fertile ones in general.

Does ooth size go along with amount of eggs/larvae contained inside?: YES.

But anyway, sometimes the worst looking ooth contain more eggs than huge, perfect looking ooth.

Sometimes the last ooths of a female are a little smaller than the first ones.

regards
