Hi there...

Just a question :)

How long can a ootheca handle cold weather during transport, will it just slow the process inside the ootheca or will i just kill it?

Regards,

Jonas

It depends on the type of Ooth. Chinese Ooths EXPECT a nice little chilly period, but some tropical or mild-climate species may require a heatpack.

something Yen told me that i had not thought of or heard before. during transport an ooth has more than just cold to worry about. if transported in an aircraft, altitude is as bad as cold. so sealing it in a plastic or glass container will protect both altitude and help with cold. i have been using the box, within a box. both foam lined and the ooth in the sealed container with in the second box. a lot of work, but after all the headaches getting the ooth, i would not want to hurt one in shipment.

if the shipment is overnight, you can use those glove warmer packets to keep your otths warm. theyre very handy.
