My R stalli laid this ooth at the end of april. She was very old, and only laid the one ooth. It has been so long I doubted the ooth would hatch. It seemed to develop black specs. I sliced off a small piece and found what looked like pieces of wild rice. I kept it warm and hydrated, but I am ready to give up now :( Opinions?

If you carefully dissect the entire ooth and count the "grains of rice" (eggs), you can see how many there were and at least have some data to help you in the future. It looks like the ooth was at one time improperly incubated and the eggs have dried up or rotted.

Thanks, I must have botched it up somehow :(

. If an ooth isn't fertile, would the eggs look like this ?
