Nice orchid mantis! Those pictures look pretty the way the lighting is.

My nymph gobbled down a wild-caught, field-raised grasshopper as big as he was the night before he went adventuring in the house.

Thank you, :)

For those of you who are big Grasshopper Fans, it survived the encounter and got to go back outside to chew on my rosebushes.

Experimenting with a different camera, without a macro lens, ugh.

What a pretty Orchid! I just tried grasshopper today after taking a trip to a nearby field to set some crickets free. Nobody is nibbling yet...

Watch out with grasshoppers, one of my mantids lost the "finger" on her claw. The hopper bit it off! My mantis was an adult but had no experience with prey like it. Only flies and moths.

Yea these grasshoppers seem like they could do some damage, either from a pretty good kick, or those crazy mandibles. I'm paranoid feeding crickets. I prefer flies, they're like little jelly filled donuts, safe and comfy. lol

Crickets are scary for me too, manly for the reason that some people say that they stunt size while others disagree. I am only rasing nymphs right now so I have no Idea what they will do to my Griffins

Never had crickets stunt anyone's growth. I hand feed my mantises so no one ever gets bitten or injured(personal preference, they sit on my hand eating so I can bond and monitor). I raise my own so I know exactly what my crickets eat and how healthy they are. Never ever had a problem with crickets
