Not long after I unpacked my mantids I realized something was wrong with the female. She died last night. I have contacted Paul to see what he wants to do. Will update this when I hear.

Here is the reply I got from Paul. I am not sure how to rate this transaction. Paul mentioned argueing over husbandry however I have no idea what he was getting at. I honestly did not like the attitude in this email. Not all locations in the US are one day express delivery including mine. I warned Paul twice to pack accoridingly before he shipped and told him it would probably take two days to reach me. Paul included an insulated box with a very sub par cold pack that probably thawed very quickly. The heat wave that came from the box when I opened it was shocking. I don't doubt the female was in excellent condition when packed and she appeared to be when I unpacked her. I sort of feel Paul was insulting my ability to keep mantids and I almost feel he was blaming my care for her death even though I emailed him the same day that I was having issues with her that started a few hours after I got her. I believe this seller has the potential to be a great seller. He is giving me a partial refund. I intended to breed these and they were mainly bought to be used as an exhibit for Bugfest. Now I must rush to find another if that is even possible.

I'm sorry that your female mantis has expired...I honored my live arrival guarantee the specimen I sent had fed, and was in outwardly excellent condition. You received, unpacked and reported that you were happy with your purchase and declined husbandry advise..I have been terribly busy with the onset of school and collecting for my business. I don't have time to argue about how to keep this species since you are an expirenced keeper to begin with. To keep the peace, I am refunding 15$ to your paypal.. Thanks for your business, if you feel the need to update the mantid forum based on our transaction, please do so..that's what it's there for..I try to provide the best service possible and if your not happy, i'm not happy.

If you are interested in purchasing additional specimens, I can notify you when I collect them..however if you cannot receive overnight (1day) express mail, I cannot offer my live arrival guarantee.

Here are our emails so that everyone can see our conversations...

Mr ***** didn't mention anything about the box feeling hot when he opened it only later when he reported that the female was having troubles. I am not calling his integrity into question, but I know I would have at least mentioned it. I've not asked for a picture or proof of death. Rather,I've taken his word for it. "She looked fine when I unpacked her" Absolutely no mention of a hot package....I feel that I have gone over and above my Live arrival guarantee by refunding his loss and I fail to see how I have fallen short of his expectations...Also: the refund was issued at :Mon 8/24/09 4:53 PM...

I'll continue to provide quality specimens and quality service.

Thanks,

Paul Bollinger

Paul,

I assume your not replying to the death of the one mantis means you are also not interested in supplying me another one. I told you the same day that there were problems with her soon after unpacking and that she eventually died not long after. The box was very hot inside when I opened it. I would expect you to offer a partial refund or replacement as I know I would as long as I had feedback and was informed of any issues. I wanted to give you plenty of time before updating my feedback for you on mantidforum. I hope to hear from you.

Thanks,

Rick

Update. The female is not doing well. She is sluggish and is vomiting and has dried feces on the end of her abdomen. Also will not accept any food. She looked fine when I unpacked her.On the other hand the male is eating and looks great. Will update in the morning.

Again, and I can't stress this enough. I've had bad luck lately with shipping to me. A cold pack is a must and a box that allows airflow within

Thanks Paul. My wife just paypaled you $50 for a pair (male and female) subadult if possible. It will come under ***** ***** so you know that is actually me. I will leave you feedback once I get them. Please pack accordingly since it is hot here and express mail takes TWO days to reach me. Thanks.

Sorry for the delay Paul. Do you still have a pair of subadults? I am pretty sure these are a US mantis but want you to verify. I want them for a mantis exhibit at the museum however I can only have US mantids there. Thanks.

Only issues I have at this point is your last email and mentioning argueing over husbandry and packaging. Not sure why you said anything about not having time to argue over husbandry. Also as is seen below I stressed to you twice about good packaging. Your cold pack was in no way capable of keeping things cool long enough. But this forum is not the place to bicker back and forth. We both said our part and I will leave mine at that. I appreciate the refund. I did edit my address and my wifes name from your post as that should not have been posted on a public forum. Thanks.

Want to add that Paul has more than made up for any issues I had with our transaction since I last posted. I would not hesitate to do business with him again.
