I recently had the mosquito truck run through my neighborhood. How long do I have to wait until I can feed outside food to my mantids? Thanks!

That comes under the heading of "DEPENDS". Depends what material was sprayed. The most common material used for large scale mosquito fogging in the US is usually some type of pyrethroid. These are mostly very short duration and instant kill materials. You SHOULD be safe waiting only about 24 hrs. But you might want to catch and observe wild prey items for that long BEFORE feeding to your mantids.

Contact your county extension office and ask them for an MSDS for the material sprayed. As it was sprayed into your area, you have every legal right to request this info. Let me know what the material is and I will try to come up with some useful info on it for you.

Thanks for the replies.

My dad works at a government pesticide program, so he asked one of the entomologists there what the effect on insects might be. He gave about the same answer as you did  So it looks like I'm good. Thanks again!
