So my Griffins are starting to molt to L6. About half of them have made it and are eating already, another quarter molted this morning so wont be eating til tomorrow, and one or two havent molted yet.
This seems to be a pretty important molt. The size increase is very noticeable, the colours are starting to change to their adult colours, Wingbuds are starting to form etc. I can't believe how fast they're growing :'(
This is Clint. You've seen her a few times before since she's usually my model for a Griffin photo shoot.
Hi Clint
Clint was first to make it to L6. She seems to be sticking with the creamy green colours they've all had since I got them at L2. However you can see there's some very pretty pinks and purples showing through now, making her a gorgeous mantid.
As I was saying before, L6 seems to be when they start adopting their adult colours. How do I know this? Meet Titan.
Hi Titan!
Titan was the same creamy green as Clint and her brothers and sisters just a few days ago. When she molted .. well you can see now she is entirely brown with some very pretty black spots and red eyes. Very nice colours. I have a hard time deciding which one I like more...
At L6, they're between 4 and 5 centimetres depending on whether you count the legs and how they're holding themselves. In this photo Titan is standing up pretty tall so she doesn't look as long as she actually is.
Thats all the story I really have for you today. But I have more pictures for you. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
A backside view of Titan and her first mealworm of L6
Titan's face screams bliss and serenity here. Not a care in the world as long as she gets her mealworms
Here's Clint and Titan in the same shot
Every time I see them eat like this I cant help but wonder if theres a bug chiropractor...
