That's not a P. wahlbergii but Acromantis japonica. Still that's one very beautiful mantis. :)
Thanks!

I know, I used my previous post as a template but forgot to change the title!

I got the name in the tags though. :)

Thanks a lot dmina! :D

Just after I posted this I noticed the error and asked Tammy to fix the title, hopefully she can take care of it.

you're very welcome, I always enjoy viewing your photo shoots. I need to get a good cam/lens set so I can do work like this. Really amazes me how clear /crisp they come out.... Even the antennae is in complete focus. Really really nice

Thanks again LAME, I really appreciate your generous feedback!

I'm shooting with a Nikon D800E and Sigma 150mm F2.8 OS HSM APO Macro with a Raynox DCR-250 diopter close-up lens. This is really a bit more camera than I can handle, but I'm getting there. ;)

Although it probably doesn't make a lot of difference unless pixel-peeping at least 50% res, I prefer Focus Magic's forensic deconvolution for sharpening rather than the typical unsharp masking which, while increasing perceived sharpness, actually reduces the image resolution.

Absolutely.

At the moment I'm stuck shooting from a stock Canon PowerShot A630... I'm looking to invest in something a bit nicer come the holidays, if not... A decent macro lens would even be a little better.

can't complain to much though, as I was shooting off my cellphone before the Canon.

Thanks!

Great photos Papilio, I really like how you get all the forearm raptor photos - I've tried using a temporary setup and it seems to be the hardest thing to capture. My favorite though has to be the last image of her outstretched. :D

Yet some more software to try, love, and try to figure out how to buy. :shifty: Thanks for the link, seems like a extremely handy program for many uses.

Thank you CosbyArt! Those raptors always fascinate me. :)

I'm totally sold on Focus Magic. Even though my current setup typically produces images requiring very little sharpening in post, when it is needed it can be done with virtually none of the usual sharpening giveaway artifacts unless it's really pushed too far.
