Soooooo extremely deadly wandering spiders are legal to import and keep as pets but mantids aren't!!! ######!!!!!! Who the F is in charge!!!???

Some of these laws are pushed by people and organizations representing the arachnid and herp hobbies. Mantid just have such little support there hasn't been a push to regulate them either way.

The best way for us to get the mantid hobby more popular and more recognised is to catch wild mantids and start handing out kits and caresheets for free. Whether it be to pet stores, or to our friends, or distant family, anything. If you can find a native species (For me its religiosa and T. sinensis), and get people to raise them and see how awesome they are, then our hobby population grows, and we get the power to push for mantid keeping the same way the reptile and arachno keepers do.

"Crix" is a slur!
Next you'll be saying crickets are lazy, greedy and always looking for handouts!
