Hi all,

I currently buy my fruit flies from the Northampton Reptile Centre (http://www.reptilecentre.com) but they come in a pot that isn't ideal; loose mesh material held in place by lid with hole cut in top. It's hard to work with them from this and I invariably have to transplant them into another pot.

I have in the past bought from http://dartfrog.co.uk/livefoods.html who provide an awesome pot which is tall and has a mesh built-in to the lid. The problem? Their minimum spend is £4 and their fruit fly cultures are £3.69.

I've also tried livefoods.co.uk but they too have a poorly-designed pot like NRC:

Can anyone recommend a good UK-based fruit fly supplier? I would be very grateful!

Thanks, Keir

hum mm, they do not have nice insect lids like we do here, We sell them, but shipping is some times expensive depending on weight, so I guess they make due with what they have. I will have to weigh 100 of each and see what shipping would be to the UK. just for reference.

Yeah, they both look kinda' clumsy to work with, if you ask me. Order some decent "pots" from the US & just culture your own. It's really not that hard! ;)

i used www.joshsfrogs.com they are cheap
Jesse: I might say that there is a link somewhere here on the forum that is a "how to make you own culture" video. As an alternative to using your present source, you might try The Mantis Place. Rebecca is an awesome owner and very accessible.
