i have a pair of chinese mantids that i got from aabuggin and today i was moving them around and the female spewed some red goo on the back side of her cage and was wondering if this is something to really be worried about as she had been fed ground bees the day before without a problem so was wondering if this could of been a problem as she seems to be ok now she was cleaning herself and i cleaned up the red goo and hope this is not the end of her existence as she is just a sub adult atm and would hate to have her die on me now as I got a male sub adult as well and he would be a lone bachelor if she dies!

A lot of members, including me, have witnessed this, Massaman (enter "vomit" into the search engine) and I don't remember ever hearing that a mantis died after vomiting. It isn't always due to eating though. Do you let her stay out late, nights?

LOL no i dont let it out at all well i had it in a make shift cage i made out of a dog pad box i painted black including the screen in the front of it i glued but changed all that today to a big critter keeper and she seems content now and calmed down as the male never vomited but hes relaxing as well!

i think phil was making one of his more subtle (and yet still side-splitting, of course!) jokes, massa ;)

they vomit from time to time, usually if fed something that doesnt agree with them (like us!) or overfed. unless its happening frequently i wouldnt worry.

well she did quite a bit of vomitting but i think this also made her more thirsty as i gave her some water on the sides of her cage and she been doing alot of drinking so maybe this is to get it out of her system and she has not eaten since vomitting but maybe she is just recovering from a stomach ache if thats possible!

One of my Chinese was hurling a lot for a while, but it seems to have gone away. From what I've read on here, it's usually not serious and goes away in its own.
