Just found one of my adult male ghosts, Boo, upside down in his mesh cube. He was fat and seemed fine an hour ago. Gave him honey and he moved  his front legs vigorously. But he seems limp. Will really miss him. The ghosts are so personable.

Oh no! I'm so sorry for your loss. Males don't live very long, unfortunately.I

Am down to only four ghosts now...one subadult ate anothers (adult) head too tonight. :(  hope the ooth hatches. If it doesnt i may give up mantises. Still have one subadult chinese mantis as well. The heartache just is very hard. May switch to rabbits. The poor mantises just have such hard lives and such short lives. :(

@cwebster  I get like that myself reading how people lose mantids.

I'm super new and haven't had nymphs yet (found 2 wild Europeans this fall, the male died mysteriously) but wow.

I think you should try a little more. :D

It is sad to loose a mantis.. I wish too they had longer lives.  They look strong but they are vulnerable at the same time.

Sad to ask but how long do i need to put the poor adult mantis with no head into the freezer? He is still alert and clinging to a branch. I just dont want him to suffer anymore and obviously ge cant eat and isnt going to recover. He just got his wings a week ago. :(  i am in tears writing this. I called him Cutie.

I am so sorry. You can leave him in there for 24 hrs and bury him afterwards.
