Both of these insects are aereal predators, but the Robber Fly is faster, more versatile, and has much longer, more functional front legs. He blindsided this Dragonfly right in front of me ... and the two went plummeting earthward, both landing on their heads.
The Robber Fly stayed this way, standing on his head, and proceeded to drink away ...
I would say that Robber Flies are one of the most awesome and feared arthropod predators out here in Florida. Too bad they can't really be kept in cages :angry:
But they can still be enjoyed when you see them B)
