I'd like to buy one and I'm wondering how big they are. They seem to be a big species but how big are the nymphs? If they are very small then it may be worth getting 2 since they seem to die a lot easier if they are small, or perhaps I would get a Hierodula instead because they are even bigger.
Roughly how big is a 2nd instar congo mantis nymph?

Very small at L2. They don't even start getting any significant size to them until L4/L5. Their size leaps are much bigger in the later instars.

That's a picture of Meek when he was L1 or L2, I don't remember. He arrived as L1 and was absolutely tiny!
He is L5, along with the rest of my babies. They are now about an inch long.
I think since they are African mantises, they might be similar in size to a Congo mantis, I'm not entirely sure, but this gives a good idea of how tiny a 1 centimeter mantis would be. Probably smaller as well.
