Hi,

I just witnessed my mail-order egg case of Tenodura Sinensis hatch 2 days ago. I have a couple hundred wee mantids to care for. What an amazing thing to see! I saw a praying mantis in Japan a few months ago and found it to be such a unique creature that I wanted to know more.

Hopefully I can raise as many of these little guys to adulthood as possible :)

Thanks, fellow amateur entomologists ?. In my last post I mentioned seeing the mantids emerging from the egg case. 2 days later I noticed a couple of moving legs still on it so I used a wet paint brush and managed to help a couple more get free of the egg case. But wait!! There's more..... I put the egg case on top of the enclosure and overnight about 40 more mantids hatched! All over my kitchen counter! Huh.... I didn't know this was a possibility...?
