my rhombodera basalis' eyes are messed up. for the past couple of weeks my mantid has been having trouble catching prey and i didn't attribute it to anything, i normally don't handle my mantids, i just keep them fed and misted. i decided to handle this one about 10 minutes ago and i notice big black spots on her eyes. is it rubbed eye syndrom? sorry for the quality of my pics, on have a 2MP cellphone cam.

dont know it could be but if she can climb on your hand if without falling maybe it will be ok!

Never heard of 'rubbed eye syndrome.' The eye spots you see are pretty common and I have seen it on wild mantids. I've had it happen several times, but never noticed it affecting vision.

It's not 'rubbed eye syndrom'. I usually see this happen to older adults. For some reason it reminds me of cataracts.
