are their outside factors that determine what percentage of males vs females you get out of a hatch

ie humidity levels heat levels

so far I seem to have way more female vs male

I don't think so, once the eggs are fertilized then it is either XY or XX...however reptiles are like this, depending on what temp they are incubated at, you get more females or males (colder=females warmer=males I think this is the right order)

But I'm not sure on the mantis part...just my 2 cents. (and for all of you biological/medical majors I know xy and xx doesn't always apply to all males and females, I was just using xx and xy as abbreviations for male and female...)

That is not true. In almost all flower mantids there are very few females. It all depends on the luck of the draw though.

I would be interested in a study on this. I can search the literature, but I have not seen anything like that so far.

so far I have 15 females and 4 males out of my oringinal 19 ghosts will be interesting to see what the percentage will be out of my next lot

In all my time with the Idolo I've found a serious female count happen time after time, less than 1 out 3 is male. Wish it was the other way though...

I was talking about creos orchids and yellow orchids. Blepharopsis as well.

Fair enough, but of my 11 yellows Ocrhids 6 are male which is close to 50/50, call me crazy but I think more males would be a bonus, how many fertile females does one need?

When you try to breed most flower mantis you'll lose some males as snack food, lol.
