I've had a lot of ooths hatch lately. Caring for all the mantids takes so much time and leaves little for photography. I did manage to take photos a few times in February and again this month.
Blepharopsis mendica, sub adult female...She's an adult now. So far, she is the only nymph that turned green before the final molt.
Blepharopsis mendica ooth hatching...this was one of the last ooths to hatch. 13 ooths hatched from the same female, but the last ooth only produced two nymphs.
Orchid ooth hatching. I just missed the start of this hatch. I had drenched the ooth about 30 minutes earlier and went downstairs to eat breakfast. Many of the nymphs had already dropped from the ooth when I returned, and they were hanging so low that it was hard to get the ooth in the shot. Maybe next time.
Hymenopus coronatus, L1....Here's one of the nymphs a few days later
Hymenopus coronatus....Here's one of the babies a few days ago. They are already third instar now (L3).
Polyspilota aeruginosa (Madagascan Marbled Mantis)... This is one of my latest additions. I posted this photo in my L1 comparison thread. Sorry for the duplication for those of you who already saw it.
Pseudocreobotra wahlbergii...A couple of my oldest p wahlbergii nymphs have lightened. This is my favorite time to photograph this species.
Hymenopus coronatus... Female in her final molt last week.
Rhombodera cf. stalli Ootheca...Last week both of my female Shield Mantis laid their first ooths
That's all for now. I see that I need to change my background more often.
