How do I go about telling the difference in sex with the Giant Shield mantis?

Many thanks. I gave one each to both of my sisters and they insist on knowing. :p

I can find sexing info for all my other mantids but these.

they are the same as the other species one has 6 segments and other has 8 like the other mantids and the females are more petite and the males are longer and thinner!

OK Thanks. I had seen your thread but I was not quite sure if the rule applied to most mantids.

Thanks I will let them know. I think one of them said their shield has 6 segments.

I told them to come join the forum. We'll see if they make it on.

Well, what I like to do is to line them all up in a row, and tell them: boys on the left, and girls to the right!

I bet they listen to you! lol

It would be crazy to watch you run the bugatorium.

If you guys saw how many flies I had over here out of control you'd take away my mantis license.

On the plus side it looks like my only orchie is a female and may get giant.

I think I might feel bad when she gets old and has no mate! We need more mantises.   B)

My family might come take me to mantis rehab.
