Silkworms as feeders for larger species

I've always taken an interest in raising silkworms, and seeing as soon I'll own a few of the larger mantis breeds, I was curious to hear if silkworms could also be used as a feeder for them.  I've heard that horn worms aren't the best choice due to the fact that their bodies are mostly water, and I was just curious to hear if silkworms had the same issue.
