As you may know, the previous post was kind of, well, got off topic. Now, I hope we can begin with earnest. Thanks to all who helped me previously!

Now, to the question. Does anyone know a small, communal mantis? Ghost mantis would be one, I guess, but how about one like ant mantis. That would be really cool because I could keep them inside a "smallish" container and yet, have like 2 or more inside. Like a mini mantis aquarium, without the fish and water, so more like a habitat. You get my point right? Thanks!

Peruvian stick can be kept in small colonies of up to 4 in a ten gallon tank with plenty of shrubbery

Thanks, but:

Ya, I read about that. But then again, they are eqyptian and kinda big, as well as the container. Okay, how about, "Less inclined to eat each other if well fed(enough)." :D

budhist: hmmm....10 gallons would be huge......

Also, what are colonies of mantids? That means kept together right? At some website, they siad not to keep together the boxer mantis, but then again, the person said that they had luck with keeping them in a colony. Kinda contradicts themselves, and I'm, wondering if I have the word meaning messed up or something.

Colonies would be put together. You may put Boxer mantids together without likelihood of death.

colony means in a group yes... i know it sounds huge and thats a GOOD thing... dont want them eating eachother do ya?! :D gives them plenty of room and they are small so it works out great!

As to the boxer, idk what his conditions were, but as Asa said no mantis is completly communal. but with enought food you should do fine! :D hope you find a good species..oh and gonglus (i know that isnt right...) something or other.... the violin mantis can be kept together too but are more expensive and require higher heat if im not mistaken

I was told ghosts may not be so good together. Seems the adult males love to fly. The adult females love to eat flying insects. Well, the males get eaten. The males are not eaten if they do not fly though. Maybe it would be better to keep them in 2 tanks, 1 for males and 1 for females.
