Saw and photographed this bug while mantis hunting at my brother's farm. I think it's some species of Stink Bug. But I sure wouldn't squash it to find out. But I thought it was rather beautiful in its own way. ;)

I have always wanted a wheel bug! Katt, next time you come a cross one PM me. I would not mind buying a couple off you! ;)

As others said, Wheel Bug. I have actually have bred them a few times. Very fun! :) I come across them quite commonly when they are in season.

You guys are lucky! :) I have never seen one here. :( I also would not mind finding an ambush bug. I'm always on the look out for these guys.

Watch out when you pick them up, though, Katt. I think that the wheel bug here is the same species as in England (Arilus cristatus) and my brother got a really nasty bite from one when we were kids.

It has a tiny little head. :p About how big was it. I think I have seen something like it before, but the one I saw was very small. Like less than a centimeter long. I brought it in, unknowingly, on some leaves I had picked for my stick insects, and I think it bit one of their legs off.

This was bigger... about an inch long or so, if I remember right.
