I'm going to enter one of these in a photo contest that ends tomorrow and the subject has to be, "Escape". I think I'm just going to title it, "Flying Away". A little bit of a stretch, but not as bad as some others. She never would give me a threat pose. She just flapped her wings super fast like she was going to fly off. Any suggestions on which one you think would be the best entry? Thanks.

I like the head-on shot of the first one, but for the general public who may not recognize that it's a mantis I say go with the second. Also the wings are more impressive in the second.

Thanks everyone. Looks like number 2 has it so far. I keep switching on which one I like best, so that's why I asked. I'm leaning towards number 1 at the moment. I do think 2 would probably be better for the title of "Flying Away", since she's about to fly to me in the first.

does she have a male? my male needs a gal :D
I'm not mating her.

I want, I want, I want ? How about contibuting and answering his question 1st ? Your really too much sometimes... Me, Me, Me!?!? <_<
Wat do u mean I'm me me me? The reason I have only 1 male wahlbergii left and only 1 of the species right now is because I sent the other like 12 or so out to other forum members!!! I only had 2 females and I sent them both out

I sent crisp a female and 2 males

Mantid_mike got a male from me

Chris Carson got a pair from me

I sent warpdrive 3 males

Peeps tell me I should keep some for myself but I only kept 1

I was stating a simple fact and offered to let him use my male to mate his female

I want the male to spread his genes, I'm thinking about him and Giesle and the female wahlbergii

And I too like the second pic better but so does the general consensus so my input is nothing new

So I'm not all in if for myself I care deeply about the greater good of the forum, it's members, and the species we rear

he means that your post has nothing to do with the OPs question, you are thread hijacking
Oh ok

Sorry

She still is a great mantis pic number 2 is the better one but the cactus compliments her well if the deadline wasn't tomorrow id let u borrow my bleph gal for it since blephs come from the desert and a bleph on a cactus would be cool

Good thing I have cacti :D

Honestly, the first image (flying towards you) has a lot of "potential movement", if you know what I mean. While the second pic shows the entire mantis. It truly is a hard call, and at that point I would look at what the judges want. If you have two works that you feel satisfied with, then sell yourself out and look at images that won the previous years/ would win. And while pic number one may not have the best comp, it certainly holds my attention more (comp isn't the only factor in good images. Subject matter and technical ability (you clearly have) are a few others). In my opinion, if you want to be "ballsy" go with the first image.
