I am relatively new to the mantid forum but have been around the block with arachnids. I received 5 L4 spiny flower nymphs today and I was wondering if I can keep them together or if I should seperate them. They seem to have "grumpy old men" attitudes with each other and although well fed I feel they get a little angered when one invades anothers' space. I guess my question is at what age if any should I seperate them? Could anyone reccomend any good literature on this species? I am not new to mantids but have never kept nymphs, and fell in love with this paticular sp. as well as the orchad mantids- which I plan to get as soon as I find them for a reasonable rate!

i housed about 20 of them from ~L1 - L6 with no casualtys,i only do that tho cause i had to many and to much stuff going on to separate them..if i only had 5 like u i wouldn't risk it..if 1day there isnt enough food for them they will turn on each other.if theres loads of food your be ok till L6 easy but u only have 5 so why risk it>?i have 2 walbergii nypmths at L4 and i have them in separate pots..

Thank you very much I know it sounded like a duh question but I would rather ask and feel dumb because I already knew the answer than risk any of my babies! which by the way are:

27 brazillian salmon birdeaters

1 brazillian black and white striped birdeaters

1 green bottle blue

1 trinidad dwarf tiger rump

1 usambara

1 tazanian stout leg baboon

1 goliath birdeater

1 antilles pink toe

2 chilean rose hair-1 red phase(true) 1 gray

1 thai zebra

And now thanks to my new addiction: 5 L$ spiny flower mantids!

plus a butt load of feeder insects: flightless fruit flies, silent cricks, b. dubya, and now house flies

Sorry to name drop but I am very proud of my BUGS!

You sure do have a lot of em, and it's ok to name drop, thats why the forum exists!!! :p
They are my babies and you are right- I guess thus is the place to glote about them! It is hard for me to find to many people in Columbus, Ohio to actually have a intelectual conversation about entamology so I have found a safe haven here at mantidforum :p
