I was wondering, what is the reason you shouldn't spray an ootheca with water directly? Because in the wild ootheca will be rained on and all sorts of things. I was just wondering if there is a specific reason why it is best not to spray ootheca with water, like they won't hatch if you spray them? or mold possibility?

I always spray mine directly. Mold is always a possibility, but in a well-ventilated enclosure it is unlikely. It is also easy to clean off before it gets out of hand.
