ok so last week i got 10 live, healthy L2 californica from yen

only 7 remain

i dont know why 3 healthy calis just dropped dead for no appearant reason

i've been feeding them hf and many seemed able to eat them without a problem

i put hydei in the cages of the live ones a few minutes ago as a precaution, but most r running away from food (several are plump so they may be ready to molt)

they all seem very thirsty

i am misting every other day and keeping them at abt 70 degrees

i don't know if the 3 that died starved from not being able to handle hf, dehydrated, or had molting problems or whatever

anyone have any thoughts or advice? could it just be from stress? 2 that died today were very lethargic since i got them and seemed to have problems from the get-go

please offer any suggestions :(

thanx

Young nymphs die randomly. I have 19 chinese mantids left from a hatch of 200, they died randomly 2 days after hatching! Now I have 400 more that wont die randomly!!!!!

Really? I keep them at room temperature here, which is in the 70s, haven't had a casualty yet from Yen or Ismart's batch back in March. I feed them mels and and they devour them and that's pretty much it. Very active little guys and MAN can they jump! Hopefully they should start molting soon. Good luck on yours agentA,
