how aggressive are they towards each other L1-L3?
just ordered a ooth.very
why do hundreds hatch?Keep them together until you have an amount you can manage, than separate
I would separate at L2. You can expect anywhere from 20-50 to hatch.just ordered a ooth.so you think its best to separate them at L1?
i have enough plastic cups i think..
how many hatch out?
phew. thats not too bad then do they take 4-6 weeks to hatch? (just double checking)I would separate at L2. You can expect anywhere from 20-50 to hatch.
Where did you get this from? 20 nymphs, atleast for me, is more than I could handle, let alone 50ish!why do hundreds hatch? on google it says 20-60.
Why are you looking on google for answers to your questions? That is probably the last place you should look especially when you have this site. I never seperate at L1 because it is just too many little mantids to try to care for. Unless you want to have 50+ containers you should wait until you get like 10 left.why do hundreds hatch? on google it says 20-60.
im not sure to be honest haha. i always double check on here though. Why are you looking on google for answers to your questions? will they even eat eachother the first day of hatching? because they say they don't eat straight away. These will eat each other in a heartbeat... from the start. But you can reduce cannibalism by keeping plenty of ff's available and keeping them well fed. They will still eat each other; but just seperate when you get down to a few more than you'd like to keep. (A few more, to account for losses from mismolts, unexplained, etc.).
Once again, get your info here. First day? Not really as they don't really eat the first day.will they even eat eachother the first day of hatching? because they say they don't eat straight away.
ah thats fine then. i have roughly 100 nymph cups so ill just separate themOnce again, get your info here. First day? Not really as they don't really eat the first day.
Not what I would do but ok. You must have a lot of time on your hands to have that many cups.ah thats fine then. i have roughly 100 nymph cups so ill just separate them
its summer holidays and i have no job so yeah id say i have loads of timeNot what I would do but ok. You must have a lot of time on your hands to have that many cups.
Point I was making is that many of us don't seperate species like that because there are far too many little mouths to feed. I just let them be until I have ten or so left. Now that number I can easily manage.its summer holidays and i have no job so yeah id say i have loads of time they're just quarter pint plastic cups that i could easily make into a mantis enclosure.
10s a pretty small numberPoint I was making is that many of us don't seperate species like that because there are far too many little mouths to feed. I just let them be until I have ten or so left. Now that number I can easily manage.
It is but it is far easier to feed ten as opposed to 100. I made the mistake a long time ago of trying to seperate that many. I would only do it if it was a species in high demand like orchids or something lik that. It is your choice but if you have the time to feed hundreds then go for it.10s a pretty small number yeah i probably will leave them to it. i was planning on keeping about 30 and selling them off, if i like the species then keeping some myself.
