Whats do you think is the best substrate for keeping mantids in then???, i dont really know which 1 to choose most times coz, kitchen towel seems to be to dry and vermiculite seems to get 2 wet ect.,

Thanx,

Ben.M

I like tissue but some times people like a more natural look, including myself for certain things, so i dont see whats wrong with sterilized, sifted garden soil etc :)

Moist spahgnum moss is my substrate of choice. It comes in a brick and is labled as orchid moss. For adults I don't use any substrate.

I use cosmetic cotton squares and rounds. They come in a variety of sizes, hold moisture a little better than paper toweling/napkins (I use those too sometimes) and you can just toss them after a week. I don't use subtrate with adults either. Those cotton thingies are great. I use them for humidity in ooth incubation too.
