After a failed attempt with a female almost twice his size, my wild male got someone a bit closer to his size today. She was tucked into the palm tree display at work and didn't move all day. In my last hour of the shift I grabbed a deli cup from... The deli... And scooped her up. She was very friendly, waving when I'd pass by and climbing into the cup without fuss or fear. She wind dances with a lot of enthusiasm, the male only took a few seconds to see her after she started. They are attached now in a large live-plant box with screen windows, I hope the male survives he is very willing to mate right now. First successful breeding session since I've started raising mantises, second attempt .
Edit: I'm aware TAPE almost always = death for insects, it is merely over top of hot-glue sealed seams, nobody panic .
