I have five ghost mantids; three females, two males. I had assumed that I had one pre-sub adult, and four sub-adults. Boy was I surprised when I woke up this morning to find that my 'sub-adult' male had molted into the sub-adult stage! Right now I am kinda confused about my pre-pre-sub male, because when I got them, they were all the same instar, and now he is at least a full instar behind! He must be a slow grower! Anyway, I thought it was kinda funny that I had a surprise molt, when I was obviously not expecting one for at least another month. :)  Has anyone else had a mantis molt at a VERY unexpected time, or in an unexpected place?

I did ,Hunter started to molt yesterday before I went to sleep,  I didn't know that it was her molting time, because the day before it, she ate normally.

Yay Hunter! Yeah, yesterday that male wasn't eating or twitching his antennae normally, so I was kinda worried.

I had a female ghost molt to adult when I was expecting her to molt to sub-adult.  Not only that, it was a lot sooner than I was expecting and way before any of her siblings.  Quite the surprise when I got home and saw her drying her new wings!

:)  That must have been a nice surprise! Ghosts are awesome!
