This is the first time I got to see any of them molt. They're pretty sneaky but I got lucky this time. She does some crazy cool dance moves starting around 03:00! Once out of the skin and she fully expands her abdomen you can see the bright red stripes normally hidden by the wings.

You also get to see one of her tankmates get defensive. Unicorns are a very docile, non-aggressive species but the adult females can get cannibalistic when they're plumping up for ooth production. They don't seem to bother the egg-bound female Violin I keep with them, but they look menacingly toward the lone remaining subadult. Had to take the adult girls from the tank until their little sister molts which should be within a few days. Her wing buds are already swollen so it won't be long now.

I was forced to get my techno funky on for that video.

I love the way the brains on her back transform into wings.

it's funny how bugs look so intensely beautiful in HD with macro but people just look uglier and weathered that close up even if there not. ;)

Dude, I always love your videos. you make everything look so cool.

I've been looking for Lichins for some time and it seems that maybe I should just get some Unicorns as they are almost the same.

I call dibs on your first batch of babies. :D

Thanks, man.

I have a Sibylla pretiosa pair I'm working on, but they take a loooong time to mature. I believe both are subadult now. Very different from Unicorns. Same color wings, but completely different build and temperament. Personally, I like Unicorns better. They aren't nearly as skittish as the Lichins. Both cool species though.

One of my Unicorn girls should be ready to mate. She's been adult for a month now. I only have a single male, since she ate the other, so I'm being cautious.

Man your so busy I nearly missed this one. The second close shot/crop of the wing buds unfurling is a cracker.

They have well funky knees too, the overlap at the joint makes them look curved when at a right angle
