Hello Mantidforum Members,
I have just completed a nice list of pet species to serve as a starting point for a new community tool. It's a wiki site, where we can all post photos and information on our mantids! It's for hobbyists, by hobbyists, but will grow to be a resource for any visitor who might be curious about mantids.
As you know, it can sometimes be difficult to find the information we need by going through the search engines. It might take clicking into 5 websites to find what you're looking for, if you don't give up before that!
Additionally, it can also be frustrating to look for information on forums. Many of the same questions are asked and answered repeatedly, and many links are shared, regularly. It's a lot of fun, but it's also a cycle of much of the same content. And yet, there is no "One Place" to get the answers we're looking for. And there is no "One Place" where we could all share our photos or information with ease. True, a forum is a fun place to do that, but the postings disappear after a few days of making their way down the page.
Many of you will be familiar with my website BugsInCyberspace.com. I hope that you have all found it useful as one of the world's original sources for hobby-based mantid information. Obviously, the website has gone a different direction. But now, it's time to give more to the hobby...something bigger and better than ever before! With the same passion I brought to bugs through BugsInCyberspace, I have been working tirelessly these last few weeks to prepare this new, highly-interactive community website. There will be much more to unveil soon, as we team up with the Xerces Society (Xerces.org) to bring awareness to the hobby on an increasingly important topic- invertebrate conservation!
Please join me in creating something our hobby and our world needs. I need a few leaders in the mantis community to help me organize some content submissions. But, please, anybody with a single photo or bit of information to contribute is greatly appreciated. It all adds up very quickly in a contagious way if we can get a good start on this...

If you have trouble understanding how to post on the new website, please email me your questions and I'll write back almost immediately. It's really pretty simple once you understand the system. Ideally, we would all learn how to post to it, however if you truly wish to contribute, but don't have ten minutes to learn how to do it, please feel free to email me content submission, photo or informational, and I'll post them.
Thank you,
Peter Clausen
