I have done that, though I usually shop for mantids and then add feeders to the cart :)

@MantisGirl13 I'm the opposite. ? I'm wasting feeders with only 5 mantids. I ordered a Rhombodera Magaera L2 yesterday, so hopefully when I get my Hierodula majuscula I'll waste less. I'll also be raising 10 (possibly more) Carolinas as soon as they hatch, but I'll probably keep a couple for myself. Hopefully, no more wasted feeders.

I have 4 mantids and 2 in transsit: a couple L6 Sphodromantis gastrica. I will have 2 more mouths too feed. Prefer my feeders in a belly of a mantis then just die. I get my feeders of a pet store in my city who has stuff for repiles. Always fun to look around there.

I've been purchasing mine from a great dealer in California. The feeders are high quality and shipping is fast and less expensive than many others. I placed an order yesterday and it will arrive tomorrow. They only have one species at the moment and I can't wait until they are stocked up.

I wish I had friends here with the same interests in exotic pets. It would be great to able to split orders on feeders. I have a small mealworm farm now, but was recently told that mealworms can bite and injure mantids. ?

@Synapze That is why I like dubia roaches. They live a long time(so they don't get wasted), are great feeders, and are very low maintenance.

@Little Mantis Yay! More baby mantids! I hope they arrive safely! Please post pics when they get here. I have two female Sphodromantis gastrica, and they are a lot of fun! just watch out. They are VERY fast and LOVE to jump!

Yeah, well I don't really have the problem of too few mantids. I have like 15 or 20! I just can't resist them! I have five ghosts, ten budwings, two giant african, one violin, an Egyptian pygmy,  and a Brunner's.

15 to 20 mantids? Where are you leaving them? My hubby thinks I am crazy with my mantid collection and I dont have much of them (yet).

I will show pics of them ofcourse.( the new ones I mean). I hope the female is brown. I had asked for a brown female, but breeder saw it to late. I hope they like noisy crickets ? I have a few male crickets i need to silence :p

We could not keep up with feeders for the longest time!  We ha 2 Chinese ooths hatch and we raised them throughout the past few months. We finally found homes for all but 2 dozen of them we are going to breed. Remarkably, we only lost 2 out of over 200! It seemed like every time I turned around, we were out of feeders. LOL!

I wish the Chinese would eat dubias. As of right now, the only one who eats them is our Orchid.

If you can take the time to hand feed, the Chinese should eat anything! What instar are they?

I keep my mantids in my closet. I have a heat lamp rigged up over a table in there. I also have a heat pad with some ghosts in a glass tank on my dresser. Where do you keep yours?

They are L6/L7.    Our orchid devours dubias. I haven't tried the Chinese as I thought I read they didn't care for them.  I wish they did.  I have the worse luck with fly pupae.  LOL!

Chinese mantises would eat sticks if you wriggled it in front of them. If you haven’t already, I’d definitely try feeding them some Dubias. You can also cut off a small piece and hold the gooey cut end of the larger portion up to the mouths of the mantises. They’ll start taking some bites and should start eating from there.

Chinese will definitely eat ANYTHING! I had a Chinese last summer that wandered onto my peanut butter banana sandwich when I wasn't looking, and started eating the banana, bread, and peanut butter right off of my plate! I would definitely go with Dubia roaches for your Chinese. Good luck in feeding!
