Just saved a ooth from being a future casualty as was hunting for some bumblebees for my chinese and found a piece of firewood and it had a ooth on it and it looked very fresh and decided to bring it home and hatch it out so at least going to try to have one future generation of europeans so I can get more ooths for my yard and next year will be a mantis population explosion in my yard heh!

Actually decided to put it into my winterizing collection and aiming to try to hatch my first chinese ooth I got from my female and maybe work with that!

was that with you counting every one of them?
Hi,

Last year i hatched 4 Ooths European and Chinese's in my back yard, and it sure looked like 100 European plus to me. My new avatar is one of five in my greenhouse at any one given time. At this time of year.

Regards :D

lucky to end up with 6 from an ooth!

I got 200 from an ooth!
I think that when she said lucky to get 6, she was referring to how many of the nymphs reach adulthood from a single ooth, not how many hatch. I could be wrong though, it wouldn't be the first time in my 40+ years of life. :p

Or maybe they were each referring to a different species.

Good point, I know that she was referring to europeans, not sure about Alex though.

I was just assuming that they both were referring to europeans, and based on my own european ooth hatching experience I know that I end up with less than 10% of the nymphs that hatch surviving through all their molts. Usually lose about 25-50% of those that hatched within the first 2 weeks.
