I don't think that in a well ventilated room it is likely to happen very often, but I have put an unwilling male in a different room for a few days and sometimes had success on reintroducing the pair and sometimes not. It is so easy to try, though, that if you think that this applies to yr pair then you should give it a try and then let us know what happens. More common barriers to mating, though, are that one partner has become adult too recently, that the female is underfed or that temp/humidity are too low.
