my newly mated ghost mantis laid an ooth yesterday morning, and another one today. Both are normal sized and everything. Does this happen often?

No, but as you have seen, it does happen! I would guess that these are her first ooths and that you've been feeding her pretty heavily! Congratulations!

I've seen it. They were a little smaller than the longest ones I've seen, but yeah. One girl layed 3 ooths in a matter of days almost in a straight line. Like she got lazy and said, "That's long enough - I'm taking a break". Again, they weren't very long, but they were complete, and DID hatch.

well the second ooth was a little smaller. The first one was about 1.5 inches, the second one was just about 1 inch. Orin's book says the average is about 1.5 inches. So that's two pretty good ooths

I'm pretty sure this was the ghosts that did the 3 in a row. Been a while... You can see she's plowing right over someone else's ooth, and there's another one in the foreground on the right. I've never had problems breeding ghosts... Prolific little buggers...

Nice! I wish my Gonatista female would hurry up and lay her second ooth, she's still eating but has been super fat for 2+ weeks.
