11 days till i can mate my popa spurca crassa something ive been looking foward 2 for ages, their both healthy yet all of a sudden the males on the floor only moving his legs, no idea why he decided to die just before mating, so being incredibly peed of i placed him on the female and he instantly tried to mate, getting his abdomen in position but just sits there and doesnt bother connecting, yet another breeding failure, im sick to death of ending up with unmated females or lonely males, are these incredibly rare mantids as i cant find any for sale, i need a ready to mate male in the UK only

Tell me about it, out of over 10 species ive ever kept, only 3 got mated,

Hey arent they phyllium gigantium parthenogentic?

yes they are sometimes bud.... the eggs are really weak 3 out of ten hatch and al nymphs died so no leaf insect until i find new ones <_<

i hope you find some popa spurca crassa males... otherwise you have to go to africa and try to find them bud thats kinda impossible..

It`d be the quickest way though, ive been searching for some males and female for months now with no success

Morpheus uk, in doing a search for your mentioned species (sorry to hear about your breeding failure :( ) I found these guys claiming to sell them in the UK. I'm sure you know about them, but thought I'd post a link just incase. It's worth contacting them even if they're out of stock, they might get them back in.

Geeze, sorry for your loss Morpheous UK!!! I know EXACTLY how you feel. I had the same thing happen when i was trying to breed Gonatista, grisea (except is was the female that died.
