Most of you have probably noticed my absence from the forum (or am I just being completely full of myself?), it's because the internet at my house got shut off

Well anyways. A while back I messaged Hibiscusmile about this brown gunk on the top of one of the deli cups that I had one of my limbatas. I had asked if she had had any mold ever grow on it, and she said no so I ruled out mold.

I switched out the lid for an unused one and I haven't had it happen again.

But, I would like to know what on God's Green Earth that stuff is!

Can someone tell me what it is?

Please?

Also, I might not be replying to much because whenever I check the forum it's on my phone's REALLY SLOW internet.

Holy crapparoo.Is he/she dying?

What's wrong?
Of course we've missed you, Zoe!

Bassist might be right; it's the right color, but there is usually much more of it. It tends to happen when the mantis eats something that disagrees with it. Whatever the cause, if it has survived for days without any ill effects or recurrence, I would guess that it's OK. Good luck with the babies and getting yr internet back!

Could be barf or fly guts...or even diarrhea. :(

If it's barf/vomit I try to get that mantis a little bit more water/mist.

Most likely mantid vomit. If you had large flies in there it could be from them as I see they often leave a residue. If the mantis appears fine and is eating normally I wouldn't worry. If it gets worse then you might want to worry about it. I have had that happen millions of times. Usually goes away.
