Unfertilized ooths?

Do mantises lay infertile ooths and if so how often? Also, can they lay them on acrylic walls or any place that would make clearing it out a mess? I have 2 female marbled Madagascan mantises

They will lay infertile ootheca if not mated. I think when and how many may depend on the species. You can most likely count on several.

They can definitely lay them in inconvenient places. Not sure about acrylic walls though...
