Found a mantis youtube video and it gave me the idea to get 1 I hadn't seen 1 for like 2 years and I go a month and get lucky when I step outside to find a big ugly spider about ready to Eat a little praying mantis. I hate spiders but leave up their webs cause of miskitos and stuff but now one of the only bugs I like is about to get Eaten buy 1 of the ones I hate the most so I super fast kill the spider and pull down the mantis, bring him in, and take off the web carefully. He just layed in the same spot for the whole night and I thought he was dying but in the moring I found him eating a moth again like nothing was wrong the night before. He is my new little friend I call Edward cause of his sizzor hands.

1. How do you tell a chinese and a European apart?

2. Can a chinese and a European breed together?

3. Do certain colors in their Enclosure make a difference, the lid to the cage I have came in red and other stuff I just grabbed green.

4. What do the dots under peoples names mean with ootheca and unicorn mantis stuff?

5. Why do you say "a European" and not "an European" or "an f" and not "a f"?

6. How quick do you have to seperate nymphs before they Eat Eachother?

Welcome

1. Chinese are much larger. European mantis has a large spot between their front legs

2. No, they are different species

3. No

4. Just for fun. As you get more posts you get different titles.

5. I have no idea. I guess because it sounds correct. <_<

6. I leave them together until I have about ten left. Much easier to care for a small number instead of a ton of them. The exception is for certain exotics.

Thanks dude. I think I'm gonna seperate my nymphs sooner when I get some. I kinda want to breed alot then let most of them go to help raise their numbers in my area cause I seriously don't find that many. Got any tips on where good places to release small mantids would be, the woods, gardens, etc.
