Hello, I need flightless cultures of Drosophilia hydei and melanogaster. If you have the wing-less type of melanogaster that is preferred but not absolutely necessary. I would prefer if they were already producing many flies. I HAVE GONE THROUGH 3 SOURCES NOW AND EVERY SINGLE SOURCE HAS HAD MITES, EVEN THE ONE THAT SPECIFICALLY SAID NO MITES HAD MITES WHEN I GOT THEM IN. I AM SICK AND TIRED OF BUYING INFESTED CULTURES. So please help me out, if you have two healthy cultures of one hydei and one melanogaster I would like to buy them from you as long as you are certain they have no mites. Thank you.

edit: I would prefer to buy from Private breeders on the forum. The listed sites are too costly

If you could also sell me a couple hundred hydei's w/out a culture that would be fine too.

doug on this forums has pretty good cultures and i havent had any mites form him

I've also had good luck with the Fruit Fly Shop! However, their cultures aren't producing as they send the flies separate from the media...at least that's how I've gotten them. They do send you a lot of flies! So you have some to use as feeders right away and then enough to use to start cultures.

This sounds like a game of snap, Tammy! (Do you play that kids' game over here?) I buy the flies only, shake a few into each pot with my own food and the rest will last for a cuppla days while the new ones are growing.

No, I never heard of snap.

It's probably best to buy just the flies since their media is just OK.

Yea I got from them as well. No mites! I also actually like how they ship the culture seperate, makes it last longer.
