Hi

I wanted to know if anyone would happen to have some dead insects that I could use in a collection. US only. Preferably insects from Maryland, Delaware, Virginia.

Would like: lice, termites, dobsonflies, antlions, mantisfles, luna moths, scorpionflies, roaches, phasmids (any other insects would be greatly appreciated)

Thank You

Hi Shadow,

If you're still looking for these items there is NO better place to buy dead bugs from than http://insectsinternational.com (low prices and the best selection!) Older hobbyists will recognize them as Combined Scientific. I still have one catalogue somewhere from a decade or two ago. (I spelled catalog that way for you, Ian)

Peter - Out of curiosity, how often do they update with new stock?

I'm starting to feel that its only a matter of time before I end up with a small collection of framed mantids...

Hi Andrew,

There are actually a few companies to buy dried mantids from. Dried beetles, butterflies, mantids, phasmids and a few others are all popular and offered by a number of North American dealers. I was recommending Insects International as a company to use for the less mainstream domestic items.

I.I. does typically carry a nice range of exotic dried mantids. You can check out their website. They have a number on the website and Greg and his son Joshua(?) are very good about picking up or returning calls. Very knowledgeable, very professional. Their business has been around longer than the internet. And the Texas accents are always fun for a Pacific NW'er like myself!
