Hi, I am desperately looking for an adult male Deroplatys lobata. I have a adult female ready to mate.... please give me a price or breeding loan??? Needed to be shipped to the UK.

Best wishes,

Likewise, theres someone on another forum who has a sub adult male?

Woops thought it was dessicata, well your stuffed then :p

Haha thanks guys, I accidentally ordered a dessciata earlier.... why is lobata that difficult to find in the UK or Europe? I just don't understand, I would have thought many breeders will keep this cool exotic specie. Damn it!

It was fairly popular about a year ago, me and Morph both had em, but my female didnt lay and i dont think Morphs nymphs came to anything so everyone must of been having these problems

Thats such a shame... anyone with male please sell to me.....

Hi

There are two facts why lobata is more difficult to find in the UK compared to desiccata:

1. They are much more difficult to pair. You need a girl in the perfect age, better 10. And of coures a lot of males in a perfect age. Males are not attracted by older females.

2. The males of lobata are much smaller than the females of lobata, while male desiccata have the same size as their females. That means most males of lobata are dead already when the females become adult.

All in all, desiccata is much easier

Best regards,

Stefan

PS: And D. trigonodera is even much more difficult than lobata :)

You hit the nail right on the head there. The problem is that there are not many breeders in the UK, well ones that have the patience to persevere with D. lobata anyway.

I sold many nymphs over the past few years and I only know of a handful of people that managed to breed them. Not to worry, I have some mated females ;)
