So today I was feeding my ground beetles and was trying to take the legs off a cricket when I split it in half. I was about to put it in when it's bottom half twitched and it's top half walked around. It's been 20 minutes since then and the bottom stopped moving while the Head is walking around.

Insects like crickets & grasshoppers etc. don't breath through their mouths

But through pores in their sides

&

Can live (if you want to call it that / LOL) for days like 2 or 3 without a head

Or

Torn in 1/2

I'll feed grasshoppers to my bigger pedes

&

Have seen them crawl around the tank for like a day or two with no abdomen / The soft yummy part the pedes always seem to eat first

Just a head & thorax & a few legs

Very weird, but understandable - although I though their used spiracles like mantids on their abdomens. I do have to admit I haven't had the pleasure to see it first hand yet. ;)
