What are the odds of a ooth that was laid days after a female mantis was mated being fertile as just making sure this was the case with me 3 days ago I successfully bred my miomantis female and today she made her first ooth and just checking to be sure it is fertile after such a short period of her being bred!

I guess it depends on the species and how well she was fed. But if she was swollen and ready to lay before she was mated then I'm not sure if that one is fertile.

She laid the ooth three days after being mated so I am guessing it is fertile not before!

I've had mantids lay ooths the day after mating and they hatched just fine.

Now if only I could predict when my europeans would lay their ooths as one is pretty fat and the other one is getting there
