is it like hibernation? but ooths do it. like in winter when its too cold. they wait until spring/summer and then hatch?

im sorry if i sound like a ******* and its nothing like that aha

i hope they dont do this!

im buying 3 mantids next week to breed and by the time they're fully grown and have mated itll be like september when it gets cold here..

It means the ooth needs a cold period to hatch. Most mantids do not need this. In fact, many ooths would be killed by the cold.

Of course. It isn't winter inside your house. Many species that live in the tropics don't deal with cold temperatures.
