My female Hierodula Mem. molted to adult on Monday, and she has little to no interest in food. She spots the food, and strikes at it, but she doesn't pick it up. She just touches it and keeps looking at it.

She kind of denies hand fed mealworms.'

To restate, she just strikes at prey. But doesn't pick it up. My small nymph is more agressive then she is, and it's stated that ALL Hierodula species are super agressive.

So.. what do I do?

after mantids shed, its not abnormal for them to not eat for a few days. wait a day or two and try again. Also, make sure to leave her alone for a day after she sheds to adult, because moving her around might prevent her wings from drying in the proper position.

She drank like crazy yesterday. Also, her wings are perfectly fine looking. She seems like she is just way too chill and just.. blank minded. She is a very friendly mantis and does not show the threat with her wings. The MALE is more aggressive

then her!

She gets misted daily. Hydration is not a problem. So, I should just leave her alone?

Want a pic of her?

I don't know if it may do anything but maybe try feeding her flies or other insects that fly. I find that moths and flies respond to their instinct more because of the constant moving around that they do. Worth a try! Hope she's ok.

Nicolas: You might try offering her some smashed banana or honey. If she takes this because of her need to get nutrients, you are better off while she gets back her normal eating habits.

Good luck with her,

Rich
