found in southern california

Some sort of orb weaver. Not very vemomous, but they are usually large.

my friend says she doesnt remember what the web looked like, but it was in a phone box... so dark and dusty

Looks like some specie of argiope.. but more closely resembles a / looks kinda like a St. andrews cross spider...
